Why am I getting email notifications about unread messages from 8x8 Work chat rooms?

Email notifications are sent when an 8x8 Work chat room that you are following receives a new message that remains unread for two hours. The email will include the initial unread message and more recent messages that are also unread. These emails are only sent when you are following an 8x8 Work chat room, you do not have the 8x8 Work for Mobile app installed, and you have new messages in followed rooms that have been left unread for two hours.
Additional Information
To stop the email notifications, unfollow the room or sign in to 8x8 Work for Mobile and enable notifications for IM/SMS.
To unfollow any chat room in 8x8 Work for Desktop, simply click on the bell icon at the top-right of the chat room window.
