Enable Regular Access to the Computer Microphone in Firefox

Objective

Enable permissions in Firefox to allow microphone access each time the agent logs ino Agent Workspace. The default setting in the Firefox browser is to prompt the user to allow access to the computer miccrophone each time the agent logs in to Agent Workspace. 

Applies To

  • Agent Workspace Softphone
  • Firefox Browser

Procedure

These instructions assume that the Agent Workspace Softphone is enabled.
  1. Log in to Agent Workspace.
  2. If prompted, allow the access to the microphone.
  3. Enter the key shortcut CTRL+I. You must do this from the page you want to give the microphone access to. In this case, 8x8 Agent Workspace.
  4. The Page Info window will open. Select the Permissions tab and scroll to the bottom of the item list to the option Use the microphone.
  5. Unselect the Use Default box and select the Allow option.

  6. Close the Page Info window. Future logins will not request temporary access to the microphone.

Additional Information

You can undo or revoke the microphone access by selecting the permission status to the left of the address bar. Click X next to Allowed to clear the status so that Firefox will ask again for permission when you next visit the site. This must be done from the page you wish to remove the microphone access.
