Error When Trying to Bulk Upload Contacts in 8x8 Admin Console

Symptom

When trying to bulk upload contacts into Admin Console you receive an error that reads, "Bulk contacts upload completed with errors." The error in the generated reports shows as "Could not create contact. addCompanyContact failed with error:java.lang.RuntimeException: Multi-PBX Customer: Please provide the contactSiteId (siteCustomerId)."

Resolution

There is a known issue when trying to upload in bulk or create contacts using a user that does not have a license applied. The workaround for this issue is as follows:
  1. Add a spare user license to the admin user being used to create the contacts.
  2. Create the contacts either individually or in bulk.
  3. Remove the license if no longer required.
