Previously Enabled Users Can't Send SMS

Symptom

Users who were previously enabled for SMS are now unable to send SMS messages. This occurs with the following circumstances:
  • You have a newly-provisioned (swapped) DID number
  • You received a new X Series license
  • SMS was actively disabled for the affected user by an administrator, and cannot be re-enabled

Resolution

Ensure that you have successfully registered an SMS campaign. See SMS Campaign Registration and Impact.

Cause

This is expected behavior. After February 15, 2023, all newly added DIDs that need SMS to be enabled must be registered. No changes were made to any users or DIDs that were already provisioned for SMS, but the provisioning logic has changed to require SMS campaign registration moving forward for all SMS enablement.
