Overview
The 8x8 for Retail solution solves the communication needs of customer-facing store clerks, specifically addressing the needs of large retail chains using shared mobile devices for communication. The main requirements fulfilled by the solution allow for a secure, but at the same time passwordless authentication in the mobile app through Mobile Device Management (MDM) configurations. With industry-specific requirements in mind, Admins can control certain features, preventing users from accidentally misconfiguring the app.

How Does it Work?
IT Admins (or 8x8 PS team) will configure the federated account provisioning in Admin Console and set up the MDM according to requirements.
8x8 Work for Mobile (version 11.11 onward) will be able to fetch the MDM configurations and alter the app experience for the retail use case (auto-login, read the app configurations, etc.).
To access the features in the mobile app, users created in Admin Console must be provisioned with X-Series licenses.
User Setup
To enable SAML login, SSO integration needs to be enabled for the PBX. To do so, follow the steps below.

- Navigate to 8x8 Admin Console > Identity and Security.
- Enter the Issuer URN and upload the certificate. The customer should provide both.
- Create device users in Admin Console with FederationID for each device user, matching a device ID that they will be associated with.
- Push the private Key to each device and whitelist the private key handle.
Installing the App
Install the provided APK either manually or by pushing it through the MDM. In case of manual installation, the Android OS might prompt for Unknown sources. Follow the steps on screen to enable the download location as a trusted source.

8x8 Work for Mobile app configurations are available in the Work App Settings > Mobile only settings section of 8x8 Admin Console:
Mobile-Only Settings
These settings are specific to Mobile App usage:
- Allow users to logout from the mobile app
- Allow users to set or modify business hours
- Allow users to rate the mobile app
- Allow users to view their DID
- Allow users to change network type for emergency calls
- Allow users to change make emergency calls via WiFi networks
