Answer
With the scheduled release of 8x8 Work Desktop version 8.30, which will occur after January 13, 2026, support for MacOS 11 (Big Sur) will be discontinued.
We strongly recommend upgrading all affected systems to MacOS 12 (Monterey) or a later version to ensure continued use of the 8x8 Work Desktop application.
Temporary Alternatives
If you require additional time to complete your MacOS upgrades, you have two temporary options:
- Prevent Automatic Update: You can temporarily disable the automatic update to version 8.30 by enabling the profile policy: ‘Disable 8x8 Work app auto-update' while your users are on version 8.29 or older.
- This will allow users to remain on version 8.29 (or older) until you are ready to upgrade their operating systems.
- Please note: Version 8.29 will reach End-of-Life (EOL) six months after its General Availability (GA) date, after which it will no longer be supported and may cease to function as expected.
- Use the Web Application: Your users can access the web-based application at work.8x8.com.
