Symptom
Paging system or loud ringers are not working with the Obihai or Audiocodes when dialed.
Applies To
- Legacy Analog Paging Systems that require an ATA
Resolution
One possible solution: Some legacy Paging systems (not all) adhere to older USOC analog standards, they comply with a ring voltage range value of 60 to 130 Volts. The Audiocodes only supports SINE 54 VRMS which equals 77 Volts while the Obiha supports Ring Voltage: 55v–85v.
Older 3rd party devices may expect or be set at a higher voltage requirement, as example 90v to ring. If the device connecting to the Audiocodes or Obihai is not compatible with Audiocode or Obihai Ring Voltage ranges, needing a higher voltage, consult the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of that device for a Ring Voltage Booster recommendation. 8x8 does not have any recommendation for any specific ring voltage booster.
Additional Information
To validate the Ring Voltage at the device level it is best practice to test from the end of the loop. This means where the device is physicaly terminated to such as a door phone or loud speaker. Using a voltage meter your will call the device to measure the voltage. If it falls under the required range the paging device needs, consult the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
